I have an addicitve personality and a credit card.
NO, you earn them in game. BUT....I hear it has a few modes where you can "gamble" / bet your credits for a chance to win more credits. So dont fret. They took your addictive personality into account.

But at the same time, you can penny gamble (18 to 24 CP a match) or play those modes using larger wagers.

Picked up my copy tonight. Woot. In an uncharacteristic move for me, I've skipped the campaign for now, and I really won't be playing this much anyway until I'm done with New Vegas. I can give a few first impressions of the multiplayer gameplay though. I've put in about 3 hours and hit level 21. It was nice starting out and being on generally even footing levelwise. I feel right at home playing this so far. Nearly everything is like MW2, but without the constant noob tubing and Super Soldiers. It's actually funny. There are still people running around with Marathon and Lightweight, but without the Tac knife or Commando they keep missing! You can really see how much of a crutch it was for them. I'm still looking though the weapons, but for now I've settled on the FAMAS, which is no longer burst fire. It's very accurate with middling power. I'm tempted to call it the new ACR, but the relatively low clip makes it the new SCAR instead. Pro versions of the perks are now acquired by doing three separate challenges. No bumps so far there, but I haven't seen what all they want you to do yet. I like what they've done with Scrambler...removed it. Well, it's actually an equipment called the Jammer now. You can drop it somewhere, and it blacks out radar in a big radius. If you want, you can also retrieve it and move it elsewhere. Probably best used while everyone has the mentality of "Scrambler = Someone's around" from MW2. Drop it, then pick them off from a distance when they start getting jumpy.
I do have a few complaints. (Of course.) Lag is the same as ever. When it's bad, it's really bad. Rest of the time it's playable. Lack of instruction here and there. I bought C4 as my equipment. I can pull out the detonator. I can press it. What I can't do is actually PLANT the stuff. Not particularly useful. The maps I've seen are alright with one exception. Nuketown is a small map consisting of two houses and a small yard. That's two and only two spawn points, both just outside 'nading distance. It's just too small, especially for 12 players. The spawns are giving me some headache. I still seem to get spawned behind frequently, even more than in MW2. Seems particularly bad on Nuke Town too. Can't hardly spawn without getting shot by the guy who just spawned after you in your base.

Maybe sooner than later for me after all. Hopefully some time this week I'll get it. I have to see how a few other things go $ wise.
I plussed a couple posts in here too btw.

These maps are so very good.

Must just be me then...
After the long wait, I gently eased my game into the PS3 and sat back ready to be amazed.
Nope.
Just seems like MW2 with worse maps and clunkier weapons. Hopefully they will get better as I unlock different attachments, but at the moment I am very meh.
I am not liking the standard sniping scope either and with the maps being a bit lighter I'm not even sure I want to invest my credits in my favorite thermal scope for them.
Hopefully it will get better the more I play it...
I DO like the fact I have limited credits and so I'm going to have to think a bit more about what perks or attachments I am willing to pay for.

Keep in mind too, this is a game that will probably have 2 or 3 different map packs like MW2 did. The game just came out, and the potential for dlc is big.

Actually, it does have exploding puppies. Not kidding. They're in the Nazi Zombie mode. From what I saw, they don't actually deal damage when they do, it just happens when they die.
The only map I really can't stand is Nuketown. I almost always go negative there. But that isn't even so much the map as it is the spawns. The bad spawns happen anywhere, but on such a small map it's worse.
I've unlocked a few pro perks. I really do like having several little challenges instead of one big one that takes forever. Getting Hacker pro is gonna take me a while though. It requires 25 claymore kills, and I almost never seem to put those in the right spot, or when I do I die shortly after. I'll get it though. Already got 10+. It just seemed to take forever.
Oh, I've also played around a bit with my playercard thingy. I decided I was going to copy my sig a bit. I bought the Ninja Leap pic, then an skull viewed from an angle on each side of another skull facing forward, with the Ninja placed above them all.

Below is my first impressions in no particular order:
We started playing about 6 EST last night. It was laggy as hell. With 600k people on that is understandable but we shouldn't be getting matched up with people from other countries. That was a nightmare and going positive was almost impossible. Most of the room had yellow bars.
A couple hours later, things changed for the better. The connections were still never great but much better as the night went on. I was finally able to get a better idea of how the game plays.
Some of the guns have some nasty recoil. That has been one of the biggest adjustments from MW2. The FAMAS helped a lot. I've used that almost exclusively.
I sniped a couple of maps with mixed results. The scope on the dragunov is interesting to say the least. It is going to take a while to get use to it. The other problem with sniping is the spawns move all around. Whenever I got setup the thing would switch and my spot would no longer work.
I am the world's worst care package thrower. I tossed several right off the side of a cliff. A couple of other times I would think I was safely near my spawn and toss the care package only to have the spawn switch and suddenly the other team was all over me.
I got dogs last night which is always fun to watch the other team try to run away.
Highest kill streak was 21 but I evened that out with some horrendous early games. I think a 1.5 in this game is even to a 2.0 in MW2.
Overall, it's a more traditional shooter. While there is more stuff in it, it plays more like COD4 and W@W than MW2.
