I'm sure these questions have been answered before, but I was wondering: can anybody get access to the beta for U3? If so, how big is the download? I have an Uncharted craving and I'm wondering whether to rock this or play some Uncharted 2.

PostSubject: Re: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (Continued!)   Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (Continued!) - Page 5 EmptyTue Jul 05, 2011 8:49 pm

I completely agree, double cash is a sufficient reward for killing someone when they know where you are or have double damage against you. For the marked man, unless you are defending him or are the marked man I don't think that there's any reason to get extra cash for a kill, although I'm not complaining.

But with exposed and especially double damage the reward is not nearly enough for the disadvantage you are put at. Personally I don't mind when the other team gets exposed against me, I don't find it gives them that much of an advantage and doesn't usually affect me.

However the double damage is so overpowered. They really need to reduce it to a 1.25 or 1.5 multiplier or reduce the amount of time that they have it for to 30 seconds, because it just makes the majority of weapons a one hit kill power weapon which is too unfair to be fun. It usually results in me just camping in behind cover for the minute. Although I love the games where you win before they get the chance to get the double damage power play.

I have another thing that I don't particularly like about the beta apart from the snail speed strafing, is that headshots don't seem to be worth going for. I have on many occasions pounded bullets into an enemies head getting a head shot only for it to result in a kill trade. They need to boost how much extra damage is done for hitting the head because in my opinion it is significant enough for it to make any difference unless you are using the sniper which it becomes a one hit kill.

Turtle, for you triple threats use the explosive weapons like the RPG and the hammer, they count as explosive kills and long gun kills. It makes it much easier because you don't have to waste your time with grenades I would manage to get one each game without too much effort.

I had a question for everyone, how are you finding playing with no stats? I am assuming that this will be changed from the beat to the full game but would you still play and buy Uncharted 3 if they didn't track any statistics at all?

it adds stupid stresses to players who are obsessed with them

I would play and beast as much as I normally do. It would be nice though to see right now how I'm doing. I think I'd have about a 3 k/d.

head shot damage wont change to a point where it really makes too much of a difference. It "slows down the game too much" thats straight from the horses mouth, from the head of Q&A it was in reguards to U2, but im sure same thing applies to U3. Agree ot disagree with that, its not something that will change

Charlie, play it play it plaaaaaaay iiiiiiiiiiiiit

It's mad fun. Plus you'll probably have a better chance of running into the U2 crowd here than if you actually played U2, since the U2 crowd is pretty busy with the Beta.

Except Reo, I guess, who's been doing both.

But still, plaaaaaaay iiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

I dunno about you, but trying to aim for the head in the hopes of increased damage definitely slows the game down for me when I do it. It also usually gets me killed.

New patch out (1.02). Some good things in here for sure.

Spoiler:

One thing that I strongly disagree with is the fact that if you have a kickback ready to use that any medals obtained after that will not count towards the next kickback being earned. To me this is ND saying "Well we want players to have a killstreak that even abysmal players can get but we don't want the good players to be able to use the bad idea that we put into the game too many times.". Make up your mind ND. Do you want skill to be rewarded or not?

One step in the right direction by ND is that the minimum time that must pass between two power plays has been increased from 30 seconds to 60 seconds. Now if they could just take them out I'd be happy.

As we had 2 UC 3 threads and the original one hit the 100 page mark, it was time to trim things up.

Here's The Final 2 posts from the original thread.

That's one i hope never comes back in UC3. Altough there is something called Ping on the one time only booster list. Dont know what that is scratch

IIRC, ping is like your signal. If it's a number, then the lower it is, the better your connection.
Damn Naughty Dog and PSN, I've looked all over on the Store, or for a code but I can't seem to find it Mad

Did alright. No idea what the heck is going on though. Mostly played Objectives. That was fun.
Too many RPGs firing though. Spawned into enemy gunfire twice in a row. Spawned surrounded by enemies multiple times. Too many turrets and can't tell when they're manned. Get cut to pieces for walking around a corner. Not fun.
I'm sure this has already been discussed, but 110 pages is a bit much to dig through. So, could someone either direct me to the answers to these questions, or repeat them again, if you don't mind.
What's the point in the blue circles that appear over enemies? I gather you're supposed to press the DOWN button. Doesn't appear to do anything. Something about a High Five in the controls description. Are they only there when you get assisted/assists?
What are these treasures for? What's with the color difference? Can other people see them? Are they worth going out of your way for? I know the ones in the boxes increase your medals.
Why can some people one hit kill me with melees even when I've taken no damage? Is that an ability? I'm not talking about the stealth kills either. I mean they just one punch me and I'm down.
An instruction manual would have been nice. Laughing

I don't think that is quite what they are trying to do. One thing that I would do before this latest patch was save my RPGs until the end, by doing this I don't get free easy kills during the match and unless I am playing with a party this could make the difference between the enemy team getting a power play or not. So by saving them up until the last parts of the game I could prevent our team from taking too large a lead - this is something that I think that ND is trying to discourage.

I also hoard the medals when I use smoke bomb, I only use smoke bomb when I am being shot at from behind and I think I am going to die. SO I can have up to 5 smoke bombs sitting there waiting ready to escape death 5 times, by having this limit in place it would stop people being able to do this.

While I do see what you mean by if someone has managed to achieve all of these medals then they should be able to make use of them, but what it does is will mean that there will be less medal kickbacks used and you will have to be smarter about when you use them. I don't think that it changes anything aboutw hat you said about the abysmal players being able to achieve them, if they can't get medals then they can't get medal kick backs. Nothing has changed in that scenario. It just means that the so called skilful players can't save them then barrage the other team with 3 RPG medal kick backs in a row.

Frankly though if it is that big an issue, hardcore is there for you. It's definitely my favourite game mode, the one game mode without all of the bullshit.

That's why you balance the kickbacks properly (like 13 medals being necessary for the RPG, probably the most balanced thing ND has ever done, which is sad now that I think about it). If ND wants to cut down on kickback abuse well maybe they could rebalance the number of medals required to achieve one, or not have kickbacks at all. If ND programs something badly they can expect that people are going to play the game the way it was made. It's this lack of foresight that really make me mad with ND.

Well , I like tge changes but update isn't out in NZ yet ? . I can't wait to see the rest of the maps , boosters and kickbacks . I am getting sick to death of that double damage power play , way overpowered , also getting sick of those guys who use nothing but the micro and Thierry fists . Lovin the smoke bomb and the chateau map though Smile . Overall I think Naughty Dog are doing a great job with this beta and responding to complaints and feedback Smile .

Sadly didn't play much tonight as no one was online when I was Sad .

Yes, the lack of stackable medal kickbacks really sucks, especially in regard to the Smoke Bomb. Now, I think Flight nailed their reasons for doing it, but those reasons still suck.

Frankly, if a player manages to stockpile all those kickbacks without ever needing them, then he deserves to use them all. And seriously, for something that's highly situational, such as Smoke Bomb, this basically amounts to a punishment for not using your kickbacks right this minute. Better use that Smoke Bomb right away, regardless of whether you need it or not, because until you do, you won't get any more medals toward the next kickback!

To use a phrase that has already reached "Hey! Listen!" levels of annoyance... I suggest you use your kickback. >:\

Sorry I missed your invite earlier, Silver.

Slowly getting there in this game. With so (comparatively) little U2 experience, this game's being a bit tough to learn. Especially since it's so inconsistent as they keep changing things.
I've pretty much decided not to bother with TDM since I'm already tired of being RPG'd to death. Haven't tried Hardcore or Co-op, just been sticking with Objectives. I like it for the most part. It's what R2's Skirmish mode should have been.
Still plagued by the spawns in a few ways though. Tired of engaging one target and suddenly being shot by three people. Shouldn't the Buddy System only allow one to spawn on another? I guess I'm just coming across people spawning on Buddies who are themselves in a spawn. It'd be nice if they could put them somewhere else when there's shooting going on though.

I don't like Disruption. I'm fine with it removing arrows, but not screwing up my screen. The first is counterable with your own awareness, but the other is something you can't do anything about. More importantly, it messes with my eyes if there's a lot going on in the distortion. Neutral

Still seeing people who are either in the middle of firefights, or near groups of enemies made MVP. Sucks when your team loses because of random crap like that.

I think the kill counter is off. I do not recall going 53-8. Is it mixing up points with kills or something?

I foresee the kill-whores playing this mode in the final game if ND doesn't patch this.
