Resistance 3 - Page 25 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Resistance 3   Resistance 3 - Page 25 EmptyTue Jan 17, 2012 4:19 am

I thnk the only time I've been spawn-camped on CoD is when playing an objective game, but isn't avoiding that part of the skill involved in playing that gametype? Shrug

The whole point of these games is that they don't feel too much like games, there has to be immersion in the game world for it to be an escape experience. If you find that moving to a particular point in the game world stops your opponent from spawning anywhere other than in front of your automated turret then, to me, that's exploiting the programming of the game and removing all essence of the 'reality immersion' factor that's supposed to be there in order to make the gaming experience fun for the players. It wouldn't happen like that if the situation was really happening, therefore it's bad programming allowing it to be possible in the first place.

If there was a large 'win button' in the middle of the map and all you had to do was press it, would it make for a good game experience? How about if that button was right next to one team's spawn point, the game would be lost before you could do anything about it, would you enjoy being on the other team at all? For me that would be a terrible game experience and I wouldn't be playing it, even if I did get to be on the winning side every now and then. Give me an even playing field so I can use and improve my skillset and I'll call it a good game, a damn fine game even, but expect me to sit there and pad someone else's stats after paying out all that money just because your dev team would rather add particle and awful looking mist effects to the engine than code a decent spawn system? i think that unlocks need to be the most tested thing in fps'. im no billy the kid with a carbine, but when you start adding in perks that can negate damage or multiply the amount of firepower coming at you it becomes overwhelming. at that point it feels more like you are having to set your playstyle to someone elses loadout, rather than playing your own terms.

isnt counterstrike coming to the consoles? that was some brutal gunplay.

I believe we're looking at a definite backlash coming in the world of online shooters, the perk system has been implemented in nearly every game released over the past year or so and is getting old fast... I'm sure that if Resistance had stuck to its original formula it would have kept a large player base simply out of the groups of people tired of killstreak camping and 'winbutton' perk abuse. I would like to think a back lash is coming and all we can do is wait and see. The truth is, sales say the perk system is whats wanted. Otherwise devs wouldn't be tripping over themselves to copy each other. At the baseline for me, perk systems are okay. But I wouldn't ask a carpenter to do my stone masonry. Some people just have no business trying it because they obviously dont get it, and as much as I do enjoy R3...Insom just doesn't get it.

IMO, they had something good with the R2 berserk system. Gain xp through your kills, NOW use your easy win button. I have less problem with that. I do have a problem with some noob dominating a dm lobby because all he does is hide in a tunnel and drops a turret. I would like to see how R3 plays like that. You can still have assassin etc, but you dont get to use it until you have earned a certain amount of xp or points first.

I think D said it best. Once you are building your load outs to counter balance someone elses.......there is a problem. I have just recently posted on Myres in some thread how i think they just went too far. Theres just too many options in the load out builds. This game would be much better imo with NO k.s, and 2 attributes powered by xp.

That said, when not in a noob lobby, this game feels more like fom than anything I have played in a while.
They were close.....but they dropped the ball imo.

I'll still play it and at the end of the day feel better about this purchase than buying another cod number. At least it different, even if all the differences arent to my liking I suppose.

For some reason I have been reminded about how much I loved Team Fortress 2 before they really ruined it. The original game with just the classes was awesome. Then they had the achievement-unlocked items and since there were only three per class it was fine. With that system people were rewarded for playing the classes for long periods of time and/or doing cool things with a particular class. Now it's just if you're lucky enough to randomly find some stupidly noob weapon then you clear the floor.

Rolling Eyes

Don't know why it reminded me, but there you go. Maybe it's a "more is not necessarily better" theme going.

Driven solely by cabin fever

I will say I am a bit happy. Its my first plat ever.
I was a bit upset to find that you dont get any Credits for the Plat trophy.
So now I have to suffer through mp builds I dont like just for the medals.

I will have that infinite ammo cheat yet.

Yup. I've played 2 or 3 R&C games and they seem to be consistently good. There's just something about Res that keeps turning things to poop (the games and the forums).

What I find sad is the article calls Overstrike and some silly ass FB games their current endevors.
Chase that money Insom. It just might help you think you are a decent dev company.

As far as Res. goes....I really hope someone else does pick it up. Ive said billions of times no one can do worse to it than what insom did.

Really the only lowpoint of the Ratchet and Clank series was Deadlocked, and even that was quite a bit of fun. It's just an awesome formula that keeps delivering. Even A40 was an awesome change of pace. With Resistance, Insomniac tried to change to much with each game. Instead of doing what they do best, they yielded to a bunch of raging fans and dug themselves in a whole. If they had just kept the winning formula, I dont think this would have happened.

And Liam, please God no.

ive tried going to a couple different official game forums and they are all turning/turned into a troll cesspool with very little good discussion going. why waste time going somewhere to sling poo at eachother? the battlefield 3 forums turned into a major waste of time. at the beginning there was some legitimate information and tips being shared, but then it turned into an ego trip, followed by a rise of "official" trolls.

I found the BF forums similar to Killzone's forums, basically a waste of time and continuous mud-flinging. I liked MyRes 2.0 because majority of the people there had their heads screwed on straight and even though it got really quiet at times at least there were people I cared about there.

I am open to R3 invites. Send 'em if you see me.
