Double post because this is hilarious! Kudos to the original author on gamefaqs.
Quote :
So, a guy steals my horse in Mexico, and I proceeded to shoot him in the knee, and he falls off. I then chase him down, hogtie him, and lift him onto my noble steed.

This is where I am stumped. How do I punish this no-good thief? At first, I contemplate slitting his throat.

Too merciful.

Then, I figure I'll just leave him on the train tracks.

Too cliche.

Then I try to think outside the box, and I'm about to leave him to the wolves, and watch as the buzzards feasted on his flesh.

Too anticlimactic.

So what did I do with this poor man? I'll tell you what I did.

I took this dirty, unshaven man clothed a pair of dirty brown pants and low cut shirt across the border. He dripped blood behind us. Wolves chased us, and more than once I was tempted to leave him there for their meal. But no, this man would pay in a more violent way. I bandaged his wounds and carried on.

As he shouted curses at me in Spanish, I rode across New Austin, ignoring the potshots that criminals took at me in Theives Landing and along the dusty trails. I had a mission. That mission was to make this man suffer.
We arrived in Tall Trees in the late afternoon, and I found a nice clearing in the snow. It would be a nice place for this man to spend his final moments, amidst the freshly fallen snow and great pines. He didn't deserve such a fine place for his grave, but alas, it is the only place the deed could be done.

I dismounted and retrieved the man, hogtied and exasperated from the long journey, and laid him in the powder. I turned away, and readied myself. Knife in one hand, and a vial of pig blood in the other. I turned and looked at the man, dazed from blood-loss but still furious, and pitied him for a moment. A fleeting moment. I knew what had to be done.
Uncorking the bottle, I took a deep breath, and then pored it's contents across the man's back and trim head of hair. With this, he must have realized what I planned for him. He went from cursing my family to pleading for his life, a fear-stricken expression across his face. He was alert now. "Good," I thought. "he will need to keep his wits about him."
I took to one knee, and carefully placed a cigarette in his front pocket. I figured he deserved a final smoke. Every man, regardless of his sins, deserves that final pleasure. I then cut his restraints. He rose, and stumbled with a cry and he shifted his weight, sand and grit caked to the bandaging on the other. Tears ran down his face, either from pain or fear I cannot say. He did not even attempt to attack me, a wise move. He ran on borrowed time. He limped through the snowy terrain for about 100 yards before hearing the distant, yet unmistakable, grunts and snorts of a grizzly. However, to this Mexican native who had never stepped across the border, let alone into the forests, did not know what manner of beast these vocalizations came from. Still, while foreign to him, instinct told him whatever the noises came from was fearsome and most likely violent and on the hunt. Hunting for him.

The man increased his pace, wincing from pain, and began to draw short breaths. I watched him from afar, as the mighty grizzly emerged from the brush and pursued him, irritated by his transgression into its territory. As it gained, the man was overcome with fear and collapsed. The grizzly closed the distance. The man accepted his fate as he saw the grizzly approach, and glanced at the cigarette I placed in his front pocket. He grasped it with his numb digits and removed a lighter from his back pocket.

With this motion, the bear's eyes widened. With one swift motion, he snatched the lighter from the man and in a booming voice said, "Only you can prevent forest fires." He then proceeded to disembowel the man for his transgression.

This message brought to you by the United States Forest Service.

Give this amusingly sadistic man a medal. Hat's off to you, Red_Powah_Ranga. And to reddit for pointing me in this direction. Smile

^ That was pretty funny.Smile

Unfortunately, the way this game has ended isn't. I am completely disenchanted by the way this game has gone completely down hill and essentially tanked.
I am actually angry. The ending was completely garbage. Utter trash. Now I'm not saying the good guy has to always win. But no dialogue. No insight. Nothing. No reason. When I've already taken down like 50 guys
the final action taken by Marsden doesn't even make any sense. The game had great promise and great premise. And it delivered. For the first half or so. But the longer I played the more this became a chore.

Oh the dialogue between people during the long trips at least provided SOME details to keep SOME interest flowing. But after Dutch, nothing else was needed. Period. End the game there and it would be fine. Everything after felt like a huge waste of time. And Even more so now that all the work John was doing
to get back into the groove of being there for his kid and wife and fixing the damaged relationships was completely wiped out with no explanation or anything whatsoever. Left to my imagination I suppose. I have a great imagination. I can assume how things went or why they happened when stories leave some open ended scenarios. But this was not a case where the player should have to do it. I feel completely cheated by the way this game has ended as now I sit on my empty farm as Jack Marsden with nothing else to go with. Its just, "you're Jack" and do whatever.
I haven't been this disgusted and and felt this unrewarded since I forced myself to play through Need For Speed Underground 2 and got to the ending. The payoff for this was totally nonexistant now that I've completed this. It will now start a dust collection to rival that of another Rockstar game that was supposed to be amazing but also managed to piss me off and completely disappoint me - GTA IV. Angry

Did you go to Blackwater train station as Jack like I told you to? If you'd rather not bother, then I'll PM you the details of the Stranger mission.

I can agree totally with how you feel. I'm really, really tired of games killing off their main characters at the end. Fallout 3 (pre DLC), R2, Bioshock 2, RDR, and others. It's mind numbing. The way I see it, they could have made a second ending left which one you go up to your Honor level. I had played Marston as a man who had taken some wrong turns, but was trying to make right. My honor hit top and stayed there. Did he deserve what he got? No.
However, let's say you play him as a mass murderer of everyone you ran across, stopping at nothing to get whatever it is you want. Does this Marston deserve a fairy tale ending? Also no. He should get the whole Crime Doesn't Pay ending.
But the Marston I played had made good, and earned his pardon. I was just as disgusted with the ending. The extra Stranger mission didn't do a whole lot to make up for it, but did help a little.

Marsden basically gave up, he knew that was no matter what happened it wouldnt end till he was dead. so why bother continuing to put his family in danger, when there was only 1 way to end it, and it could be ended now before the rest of his family got hurt.

Yeah I went. And that made me even more annoyed. To get even a small bit of closure to have that mission as a STRANGER mission? Not even a full one? I was concentrating on going through the story. When I finished, all I was doing was standing around the ranch.
The fact that you have to randomly decide to do the side missions to get the ending is stupidity in my opinion. Even then, once again there was not one but two rediculous long rides just to get there and very little dialogue. Was very anti-climatic for me. I wanted to go kill Ross brother just for the hell of it, but he was gone....pity really.

If he took out the main FBI guy he wouldnt be coming back. The fact that he gives up after winning hundreds of gunfights over the course of the game and overcoming odds bigger than this when he had legitimate cover to work from, seems inexcusable to me. To go that far just to give up just doesn't work for me in this case. No, I don't accept that. Maybe it would have been a bit easier to if HE had vocalized it but to leave it open like that.....I'm not accepting it.

'Tis okay.

I haven't played RDR in ages. And then there was this bull, and I'm like, "Cool! A bull!" And started running people over with it 'cause there's a thing that if you get run over 25 times you get XP or something...

Embarassed

I'll behave more next time. Razz

And why did Leo keep killing me? Suspect

If it'll make you feel any better, I also shot Porky's bullock. Laughing

Funny how the game wouldn't let me play after that... It actually said I was placed back into Free Roam because a majority of players voted to kick me. scratch

Fine, except I hadn't even been in Free Roam in the first place because the game never left the loading screen apart from that first time. Rolling Eyes

Nah Leo, I had the patch too along with most of the others that were there. I had problems connecting,
just sat and sat on the loading screen. I find it works if you first go into single player when you load in the game
and then just wait for your invite.

And hands off my bull!! Laughing

It's a friendly cow so I'm going to call it Boo because that's the name of my grandmother's cow. It's the only one she kept after selling the rest of her cattle herd.

Boo's nice. She lets you sit on her. Laughing
